The Federal Reserve has announced a November 16, 2026 Fedwire® Funds Service ISO 20022 release that is expected to remove the fully unstructured postal address option and move to a hybrid postal address format for parties and agents across message types. Under the hybrid approach, if a postal address is used, Town Name and Country are required structured elements. Other structured address elements, such as street name, building number, and postal code, should be provided when available.
Business impact: Businesses should begin reviewing vendor master records, customer wire templates, standing wire instructions, online banking input screens, and wire agreements to make sure address data can be captured in a structured way before the November 2026 release.
