Growing up, Chad had big dreams. He says, “Sports were my entire life. I had huge dreams of playing college and professional football, and before I knew it, I found myself in the arms of my 18-year-old friend, covered in blood and fighting for my life.”
Chad Porter was a young athlete when he endured a horrific tragedy and, in his darkest moments of despair, he had one question. He shares, “I asked why. I asked why me over and over and over and over again.” His dreams of being a professional athlete had vanished in an instant, and he felt hope was lost. But Chad’s story was unfinished. He explains, “What happened to me that day, and how I was eventually able to react to it… I wouldn’t go back and change that day for anything in the world. For me, it was a life changer. I cannot imagine a better life, and to be able to inspire, to motivate and to show people hope, that no matter what it is in the world that they’re going through, you can get through it.”
This teenage boy found the strength and courage to fight against seemingly insurmountable odds, and he realized that his story needed to be shared. Since then, Chad has helped others find the strength to persevere, the courage to realize their true potential and the heart to love each other despite differences.
